The challenge of chairing groups of people is often a difficult one. This course provides all the essential skills that you will need so as to be able to chair and lead meetings. It is full of practical solutions, methods and documentation to become an effective meeting manager!

The course will support those who find that their meetings tend to go on for a long time, for those who find that colleagues do not seem to know that a decision has been made, managing colleagues who dominate meetings and those who don’t participate.


  • Determining the role and authority of the chair
  • Collecting effective agenda content
  • Different types of agenda items – information, discussion, decision
  • Minutes and actions – how to ensure they remain pertinent
  • Managing those who dominate and those who don’t participate in conversation
  • Managing those over whom you have influence (employees for instance) 
  • Managing meetings involving those people over whom you don’t have influence (GPs)
  • Ensuring decisions don’t get unpicked
