We have been told that we take a refreshingly different approach to developing appraisal skills. Many organisations struggle with effective appraisal – with leaders and managers sometimes being nervous and unsure as to what should be done when.  We look at how to differentiate between appraisal, continued professional development and performance management, and how to set goals that are motivating and relevant, with some interesting new ideas around timing. We then talk about how to give meaningful feedback.

  • Understanding the anxieties of those being appraised and developed
  • Identifying what to appraise and management of goal setting
  • Motivational skills in how to appraise effectively
  • Using behaviours to improve effectiveness and reduce ambiguity.
  • Using organisational plans in appraisal
  • Identifying development opportunities that are relevant and realistic to both the organisation and the individual
  • Understanding how people learn
  • Using significant events effectively in development

Who Should Attend?

  • All team leaders responsible for appraising staff

How Long Is The Course?

The course is a full day session (6 hours) but can be split over two half days.
